Book Review: Who Moved My Cheese?

Book: Who Moved My Cheese
Author: Spencer Johnson
Publisher: Putnam Adult
ISBN: 0-399-14446-3
Genre: Motivational/Self-help
I came across the book "Who Moved My Cheese?" when one of my brothers introduced to the book. According to him, some people have said that they didn't like the book and was useless while some loved the book.
But, I decided to read this Spencer Johnson book because there was cheese in it and I love Cheese a lot. Jokes apart; after going through this 96 pages book I will advise you to draw your own lessons as the story implies.
The book deals with the changes one has to face in your work or in your like. Thes small transitions are very necessary to move forward. Spencer has keenly observed such changes and come up with the set of individuals. Some will sit back and pity their luck while some simply refuse to adopt the change. But others who are always on their feet and ready to take up those changes.
The plot starts with a gathering of former schoolmates over a lunch where their conversation leads to relationships, work and the changes they were coping in recent years. They were not aware of how the should handle these changes. And here the character named Michael narrates the story of four characters- two Mice(Sniff and Scurry) and two LittlePeoples(Hem and Haw) who were living on the cheese to nourish and make them happy. We should understand here that the Cheese mentioned here is used as a metaphor for what one wants in his/her life. This can be a healthy life, good job, relationship or money. Whereas the Maze is location or the place one looks for this cheese which can be workplace, society or family.
The story of finding the cheese continues with the mice and the littlepeople. Somewhere in the middle of the story, Haw learns the lessons of the change in life and he jots it down on thebig wall.
The lessons learned by Haw -
1. Changes happen
2. Anticipate the change
3. Monitor the Change
4. Adapt to the change quickly
Change with the change
6. Enjoy the Change!
7. Be ready to the change quickly and Enjoy
The book completely transfigures your outlook towards the change and with this new evolved attitude success will kiss you. This book has used simple language and do not discriminate between the age, gender or caste and certainly help one and all. It also states individual to understand the solution and the situation and hence, helps in transforming individuals attitude towards the change or transition in one's life.
